Preliminary data from a study on the Bacillus subtilis DE111 strain shows it significant lowers TNF-a concentrations (a marker of systemic inflammation) .
Preliminary results from this latest clinical study will be released at the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) 15th Annual Conference and Expo, which is held from June 7 to 9, 2018 in Clearwater Beach, FL. Dr. Jeremy R. Townsend of Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN will present preliminary data. The data (from a double blind, placebo-controlled, randomized study) shows that the Bacillus subtilis DE111 strain, a hearty SBO strain with many health benefits, significantly lowers TNF-a concentrations as well as lowering cortisol levels.
“The purpose of the investigation was to study the effects of probiotic supplementation on potential immune and hormonal markers of overtraining and overreaching in team sport athletes. The double blind, placebo-controlled, randomized study involved 25 Division I male baseball athletes throughout their 12-week offseason training program. The results of this investigation showed TNF-α concentrations were significantly lower in the DE111 group. A trend for lower cortisol in the DE111 group was also observed compared to the placebo. These findings indicate that DE111 probiotic supplementation may reduce systemic low-grade inflammation.”
The DE111 strain is featured in Phage Complete, a product of The Gut Health Protocol LLC. The strains found in Phage Complete are designed to work together to benefit gut health , improve the microbiome, lower inflammation, and strengthen the immune system. The phages in Phage Complete amplify this activity by helping the probiotics survive the harsh environment of the gastrointestinal tract. The phages also provide food for these probiotics by killing bad strains (often found in the colon) that then provide a food source for beneficial bacteria.
